About.
Shauna Carrick is a dynamic Irish composer and writer based in Dublin, with a passion for musical theatre and bringing authentic Irish stories to the stage. Her creative journey has taken her from Dublin to the UK and the USA, where she has continued to craft original works that resonate with audiences at home and abroad.
Recently, Shauna worked as the Composer and Lyricist for All Growed Up, a new musical commissioned by BYMT that premiered at the Lyric Belfast in August 2024, working alongside Director and Writer Dean Johnson. Just a year earlier, her show Shauna Carrick Wants A Dog, co-written with Conor O'Rourke, captivated audiences in Smock Alley at the Dublin Fringe Festival. The production, directed by Mollie Molumby and produced by Aon Scéal Theatre, earned nominations for both Best Production and the First Fortnight Award.
In June 2023, Shauna showcased her talents as a Lyricist for Tiny: A New Musical, presented in concert at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght with collaborator Sean Gilligan. Her earlier work, Tír na nÓg, was featured at Scene + Heard 2019, and later showcased at The Other Palace in London's West End in 2020. It was further developed in a workshop at dlr Mill Theatre in 2021, and finally received a full production there in 2022 under the direction of Katie O'Halloran, supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media and dlr coco. The production's live album is now streaming on all major platforms.
She was recently chosen to join the Axis Assemble cohort of artists for 2024/2025 to develop a new musical for teenagers set in the Irish Gaeltacht.
A versatile and ever-evolving artist, Shauna has also taken part in a masterclass with Claude-Michel Schönberg (known for Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, and The Pirate Queen) in November 2022, where she presented songs from Tír na nÓg for feedback and development. She has been recognised with a Pavilion Studio Residency at the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire in October 2022 and was selected as a Mercury Writer's Barn participant by Mercury Musical Developments in April 2023.
